I’ve decided to put my three main hobby updates here in weekly sections. Music, Movies, Reading.

Movies: I watch a film last night, which has got to be the bloodiest film I’ve seen in ages. It was called Ninja Assassin (just by the name alone, I knew I had to watch it). It was basically about a rouge ninja student going against the other ninjas to foil their assassination attempts in revenge against his mentor. (there was a government side story, but I thought it to be boring). It was very well put together and the fight scenes… although very bloody and savage, still kept hold of a artsy dance kind of look. It was weird.. kind of like a 70s Bruce Lee film. The last scene for example. The main character pits his skills against his mentor. The whole floor is covered in blood and the main character is sliced more then a chopped up cucumber but still finds a way to walk about the place. It is cheesy and something women stay well away from, but still, for pure action lovers, its a film thats well worth checking out.

Books: I’ve been reading Sherlock Holmes lately and really enjoying it. Not because of the recent movie (although it has strengthened my interest) but because of an iPhone app called Wattpad. It has thousands of classic novels on it including the works for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and I had been meaning to check them out for a while now. I started off with the short story collections under title “Adventures of / Memoirs of” and I must say I’m hooked. What attracts me to the books is the eccentricity of Sherlock Holmes and his methods of solving the crimes, the bafflement of the people around Holmes when he comes to his conclusions, the why people talked at the start of the century and mostly, the way the stories are depicted from the view point of that other then the main character. I’m going to move onto Hound of the Baskervilles next I think and then onwards through the collection. :)

Music: For the past month or so, I’ve been listening to the Stereophonics’ new album Keep Calm and Carry on. Whenever a song from the album comes on my iPhone, i dont skip at all.  The Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band that formed in 1992 in Cwmaman, Wales and are a part of the Cardiff Rock Scene. They’ve brought out loads of songs in their career and many of them I’ve loved. They did take a break from the rock sound they started off doing by doing mellower songs like Have a Nice Day and Mr Writer, which were alright, but I thought they didn’t suit it. 

They gradually got back on form with their Language, sex, violence, other? Album, and have come into their own with their latest album, which isn’t as recognised as it should be in my view. It has classic a Stereophonic but also a bit of Oasis too (one of my other fave bands). Nearly every song on their new album I love. Kelly Jones's rough, Rod Stewart-esque voice belts out on the songs on this album, such as Shes Alright, Innocent, Uppercut and 100mph. Check out the album when you can and you'll be blown away.

I'd like to say I don't have enough time to blog but that would be a lie. I have more to do in work now due to being given a new job role in the property side of our firm. More to do, more responsibility and more chance to shine and show what I'm worth. I did most of my bloggin in work, so its thrown me off blogging a bit. So for now I'll do mini ones every now and then and see how that goes.

The weekend started well. I went a friends birthday party in Runcorn, a neighbouring town. Had laughs, got drunk stayed up till 3am. Unfortunately I got carried away and I had Kal the next day. I got two hours sleep. I thought the babysitter would have gotten up with Kal, but nooo, she called for me when Kal woke up. lol I spent the day being zombie mal, but did my daddy duty and had fun with Kal. I got home all tired and really exhausted when my friend calls and asks if we both can go out. It was his last chance to go out for two weeks as he was going up to scotland. So i agreed. Didnt have a good night at all. I may pack in going "clubbing" from now on. Its the same story every time. I see someone, or many I like, i work myself up for not having the courage to approach and end up just knocking the drinks back and maybe having a dance towards the end of the night. Safe to say, I got off early and went home.

The online dating aspect of my life is uneventful. I message others, I get no response. Maybe thats because I only use the free ones? I may invest in a subscription one, maybe the king of all dating sites, Match.com. ... i dunno. There was one who messaged me not so long back, but after a few convos, I found her to be depressing and desperate. She complained in every convo, asking why no one likes her and the odd remark about myself like "i wouldn't say no" and asking personal questions. I blocked her after giving her a chance to redeem herself and I'm continuing on my pursuit of love. Will keep you updated.

Recently I watched, Star Trek, Wolverine and Angels and Demons.

Star Trek was really good. A good spin on an old story. Action galore, good acting and good storyline.  I enjoyed it a lot. I'm not a trekkie per say but I do enjoy star trek a lot and it was good to see a movie like that. I love JJ Abrams works (lost, Fringe, Cloverfield, and now this) It seems he can't do wrong on my opinion.

Wolverine was really good also, but I only watched the infamous Workprint version going around the internet. Its the full film but without complete CGI. I still enjoyed it, but wouldn't mind seeing it in its entirety. 

Angels and Demons was the most recent film I saw.... It had me really upset. Nothing like the book, which I so enjoyed. Ron "happy days" Howard took out a main character, Vittorias boss from CERN, who ends up being the main villain. He changed the whole story. I was not a happy chappy. The action was good though, and Hanks did a good job. However, I'd like to have seen the nerdy reporter from the BBC in the film, or the original ending. He ruined the Da Vinci Code and now hes gone and ruins this film too. Grrr.
